Delaware County Special Needs
Registry
Help us Help You!
In 2004, Liberty Township developed a program that would tailor responses to a specific population residing in the township and the City of Powell. Today it is known as The Delaware County Special Needs Registry. If you or a loved one has a special need we ask that you register by visiting the website or by contacting the fire department.
Once the special need is identified, the information is entered into a database and the following will occur:
1. A Home visit will occur to confirm the special need and to identify other potential problems that may exist that the untrained eye would not be able to identify.
2. The database will be updated to include any new information.
3. The information will be reviewed with all of the staff as appropriate.
4. Education will be provided so that the staff can respond and treat each special needs patient with respect, knowledge, and professionalism.
A. Provided by the EMS Coordinator / Medical Director
B. Reach out to the medical community to seek out experts and have them provide specific
training so all staff is aware of the best way to handle the emergency.
5. Secure information will be available at a moments notice. This information could be shared with other public safety personnel including agencies that assist in the time of crisis.
6. Request updated information on an annual basis. This will confirm that the information contained is the best information for each specific patient.
