After the firefighters have controlled an unfriendly fire, our team of investigators are called in to determine the origin and cause of a fire.
Each investigator is, at a minimum State of Ohio trained in fire investigations. The Fire Prevention Officer, Lt. McCann-Mirise, as well as Inspector Allen, is additionally trained through The National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) and also has a NAFI certification in Vehicle Fire Investigation. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Chapter of Arson Investigators .
Anonymous Tip Form
The Fire Prevention Bureau works with the State Fire Marshal and the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee to provide anonymous tip numbers following an intentionally set fire. These numbers offer a contact point for someone with information about a fire to call and if that leads to a conviction, provides a monetary reward.
